When is the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick called for?
How does the Anointing of the Sick relate to the Mercy of God?
- Scriptural Foundation- Mark 6:13 "And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them."
- Minister- A priest or a bishop may administer the Anointing of the Sick
- Receiver- Those who are seriously ill, at the point of death, or someone about to undergo a serious operation, those who are elderly whose frailty has become worse
- Frequency- The sacrament is repeatable if the illness or a person's health worsens or further surgeries are necessary
- Effect- Sins are forgiven, Grace to face death and judgment, spiritual preparation to die, if God's will, physical healing
- Form- Prayer of the priest or bishop over the sick person for the grace of the Holy Spirit and the forgiveness of sins
- Matter- Anointing with Holy Oil and the Imposition of Hands

When is the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick called for?
- The sacrament is called in dire situations. thus sacrament is to be called for when a person is deathly ill, is going to having a very dangerous surgery, or if a new illness has been found within a person, it can called for again.
How does the Anointing of the Sick relate to the Mercy of God?
- Anointing of the Sick is God's greatest gift to us, as he is preparing us for heaven here on Earth. He is doing everything for us even at the brink of death. He never gives up on us and is merciful towards us, even through our daily faults and mistakes.
