The Difference between Parish Priests and Religious Priests
- A parish priest is one that is appointed by the bishop to serve as a priest at a local parish. He will give blessings, give masses, anoint the sick, and absolve sins. A parish priest belongs to a parish for however long that parish needs him for or until another parish is in need of a new priest. A religious priest is one that is not assigned to a parish, but is dedicated to live in a religious order, living his life worshipping Jesus in prayer.
